Finally, a Band!
After years of searching, I finally hooked up with what I believe are right team of people.
Bassist, Greg Lambas and drummer, Dave Lemke, from Post Falls,
Idaho will be joining the project as the core musicians.
The chops and work ethic that these profesional musicians bring to the table is amazing. I knew
from the first beat of our first song together that I had found the team. We chose Terminal Velocity
to be the first song we worked on. The guys showed up having written their parts and we made it about 90%
through the song the very first time.
I am also furnishing the electronics for studio where we will be recording. The studio
will be based on a Pro Tools HD-2 system running Pro Tool 7.3 software. I am in the final stages of
purchasing the hardware but so far, here is a partial list of equipment:
- Pro Tools HD-2 Accell hardware
- Power Macintosh G5 computer
- Two Digidesign 96 I/O A/D converters
- Two Focusrite OctoPre, 8 channel mic preamps
- Native Instruments Komplete 4 plug-in bundle
The studio has a great live room with high ceilings for drums and other acoustic instruments. a
separate vocal booth and good sized control room.
Keep your ears peeled! I'll be posting demos as we work our way through the preproduction phase.

Wanted: A Band
Here it is, 2007, and I still don't have the CD done. I had a couple of goes at it but
could never get the right combination of people to pull it off.
Here is what I need:
-
A good, in-the-pocket bass player that has a good groove, good equipment
and creativity. If you play a fretless, that is a plus. Actually, I may have already
found a bassist but contact me anyway. You never know.
-
Keyboardist in the style of Lyle Mays and/or Keith Emerson. I know, I am asking a lot.
Ok, I'll settle for someone who is good at piano and Hammond B3. Yes, appreciation for
the Hammond organ is essential.
-
A drummer who knows how to play with a click track. Good drum tone is paramount. Steady,
consistent chops are essential. Recording studio experience is important.
You must have the time to put into this project. If you are prone to complain
about how your wife will be on your case, please find another project.
You must possess a strong desire to do this kind of music, be mature (no kids need apply) and be creative while
working with the team. Many of the songs are in the demo stage but I really want your creativity
on your instrument. I don't spend a lot of time on demos anymore - my MIDI drum and bass tracks are
only guidelines.
You can use the contact page to email me. I am on email all day long and may even email or call you
immediately.
Go ahead, give it a shot!

A Reunion
I recently had the greatest thing happen to me.
I discovered a MySpace page created by my old bandmates, Scott Kellenberger and
Kevin Major who have recently reunited to produce a new CD. They are also playing
with a fellow guitarist named Jim Capaldi who I have never played with but got to
know through Scott and Kevin.
Their new group is called Breakout
and the CD is called Love and broken Dreams.
I have been in many bands since the early eighties, when Scott, Kevin and I were
together. For years, I would tell my wife that if ever I could resurrect a band from my
past, it would be this one. I can't even remember the name we used. With all the ups and
downs - arguing over direction, lack of a permanent vocalist, etc. - it was the best time
I ever had playing music.
I still have an old recording of Rush's La Villa Strangiato that we recorded live in
my parents living room while the folks were away one week. We never played that song in front of
an audience but as Kevin said in an email to me recently, "it will be etched upon my mind
forever."
Cheers, guys! I am really envious of Jim.
